Dear NIXTLA,
Hope this email finds you well.
This is Rui. I was really surprised when I find NIXTLA TimeGPT since this creation is so brilliant. Also, this open-source Time Series GPT is friendly for users like me.
I really like this TimeGPT and want to better use it, so I have some questions for it.
First, I am wondering whether the API for NIXTLA TimeGPT will be charged in the future (like how OpenAI charges)? If I want to do some further data analysis (if possible), will the API for TimeGPT be charged? If yes, how much does it charge?
Second, is it possible for me to privatize this TimeGPT legally? If yes, how can I make it work? My company think this open-source project is helpful and want to apply it in our company industry.
Really looking forward to your reply.
Thank you so much, and I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience my questions or request might cause.
Best regards,
Rui
Draft response: Hi Rui, Thanks for your interest in TimeGPT, we're glad to hear it's working well for you. For the API we do anticipate that there may be changes to improve the service. We'll share however as those change, so you can find that information in our documentation. For usage of TimeGPT, you can use it on our servers, or through Azure as TimeGEN-1. As you've seen, the API is open source, but the model is not something that we've released. Best, -Tracy
Note: I could mention the on-prem option, but I'm not sure if we want to mention that here, given the way he's asking the question.
m
I don’t really understand what he wants. Maybe @Cristian Challu or @Yibei can provide more info on historical usage.
y
I think he's just asking if there's on-prem version of TimeGPT and whether he can incorporate TimeGPT in his product free of cost πŸ˜…
c
Maybe they are just confused and think that TimeGPT is open source? We need to say that it is not open source and that there is a cost of using it. And that if they subscribe and pay they can indeed "resell" it to their users/clients
m
My question is if he has used us so far. Do we have his profile ?
y
No. I checked and he hasn't registered or used TimeGPT.
t
@Cristian Challu I think you're right that they're confused about TimeGPT being open source, so the 'you can pay to be a reseller' is probably the right message. Updated draft response
Hi Rui,
Thanks for your interest in TimeGPT, we're glad to hear it's working well for you.
For the API we do anticipate that there may be changes to improve the service. We'll share however as those change, so you can find that information in our documentation.
For usage of TimeGPT, the API is open source, but the model is not something that we've released. So, you can either pay to use TimeGPT through our subscriptions or using it on Microsoft Azure. (links)
If you're interested in integrating TimeGPT into your platform, we also have those types of partnerships where you can pay to make it available to your clients. If you're interested in that option, please let me know, and I can share more.
Best,
-Tracy

Thanks Tracy. Here it is again with some changes:
Hi Rui,
Thanks for your interest in TimeGPT, we're glad to hear it's working well for you.
For the API we do anticipate that there may be changes to improve the service. We'll share however as those change, so you can find that information in our documentation.
For usage of TimeGPT, the SDK (link to github) is open source, but the model is not public. To use TimeGPT you can subscribe to use our API or use it on Microsoft Azure. (links)
Please let us know if you have additional questions. We are happy to schedule a call with you (link to calendly).
